Laura is an Elder in the North Georgia Conference of the UMC serving the amazing justice-seeking congregation at Oconee Street. A repatriated Southerner contending with her own history, she is focused on the intersection of discipleship and justice as the fullest expression of our faith in Jesus. She is involved in Fresh Expressions and is the pioneer of Not Church, a community for spiritual-but-not- religious millennials who feed our homeless neighbors and talk about how to love better. Laura lives in Athens, Georgia with her dog Dooley and cat Sam where she lifts weights, cooks good food, plays music, and tries to grow a few plants.
Laura’s LEAD talk topic: Itineracy means risk, and it doesn’t always go well. Can wounded pastors and congregations help each other heal?
