The two most passionate callings Pastor Anthony Tang has identified in his life and career are (a) working through systems to bring down their abusers and authoritarian hoarders of power and (b) liberating and emancipating everyday good people so they may become the people God created and called them to be. He loves studying systems, organizational development, leadership development, business psychology, and board games.

He is married to Rev. Katherine Tang, who spoke at Lead in 2016 when it was in Los Angeles. She is a Clinical Pastoral Education Supervisor and a hospital administrator. They have geeky conversations about the theological implications of leadership and strategy. Right now, they share their home with Gary, a senior 120-pound mostly-Great-Dane who loves his bed and watching the neighborhood.

Anthony has a BA from the University of Arizona, a Master of Divinity degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, and an Executive MBA from the WP Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. He has served churches in metro-Phoenix and Las Vegas and is a former Director of Connectional Ministries for the Desert Southwest Conference. Currently, he is on the Board of Directors for the General Council on Finance and Administration of the UMC.

Anthony’s LEAD talk topic: Visioning a path forward for our church has required re-evaluating & even changing my own values.
