Joe Webb is an ordained Deacon in the West Virginia Conference, serving a dual appointment as the leader of New Wineskins, a nontraditional ¶259.1.a Mission Congregation, and as Conference Coordinator for New Faith Communities.

Joe answered the call to vocational ministry after a career in journalism, marketing and graphic design. His call grew out of a period of deconstruction and a passion for helping people rediscover the Jesus movement as one of justice, mercy, and compassion. In 2014 he launched New Wineskins as a discussion group headquartered in a local brewpub, and in 2019 received his appointment to grow New Wineskins into a worshipping community.

With the New Wineskins community serving as a field lab, Joe is helping coordinate collaborative partnerships with clergy and lay colleagues to pioneer a Contextual Communities movement within the WV Conference. With many churches creating or enhancing their online presence in 2020, Joe is helping leaders reimagine what church can be through the lens of relational networks.

A graduate of Glenville State College (BA 1985) and Asbury Theological Seminary (MA 2014), Joe and his wife Lorie reside in Williamstown, WV. They have two adult daughters, Anna and Amanda.

Joe’s Talk: “Community for Spiritual Exiles: Church for people who are sick of church”

We all know people are leaving the church, but are they leaving Jesus? Or do they just need a better way to connect?
