Alexis’ talk: “To Be Vulnerable is to Be Human”
We are created in the image of God. To live an authentic life requires a sense of vulnerability. Last year I lost my brother, who was my best friend. I struggled because after he died I felt as though I had no one who understood me. I recognized that friendships that I desired to have takes vulnerability and courage. It also takes self acceptance. I learned that many of my students struggled to find community and true relationships as well. There are healthy ways to be. Our tradition and social ethic gives guidance to create togetherness.
